How Paddle used GodmodeHQ to Power its Outbound Machine
Every time a new user signs up to GodmodeHQ, our whole team gets a Slack notification with their email address.
Before our Product Hunt launch, we watched this very closely. We wanted to engage with all of our users to learn from them and improve our product accordingly.
At the time, most of our customers were start-ups and mid-market companies. At this point, we thought that our product was ready for enterprise, and focused most of our outreach efforts there.
So, when we received a notification that Patrick from Paddle signed up, our eyes were wide open. We wanted to land that logo. Immediately upon signing up for the product, Patrick was a pro user. He ran through all of his credits learning about the product, and then booked a call with us just 3 days later.
Here’s what Patrick had to say about GodmodeHQ in the first minute of our call, after using the product for a couple of days:
I was just very intrigued by being able to automate a lot of my day-to-day process, which is prospecting and finding contacts. The personalization is just, like, icing on the cake for me. I think that's so cool.
Here’s another snippet from our chat after we showed him what our AI research agents can do:
Wow, that's so cool. It's like blowing my mind, honestly. Just takes my whole job and basically like automates it. It's awesome.
As you can probably tell, the call with Patrick went awesome. He loved the product, and what it could do for his workflow. A few days later, we received our first payment from Paddle. Our first enterprise logo. Since then, we’ve been able to bring in users from giants like Google, but that’s a story for another day.
What did Patrick do on GodmodeHQ? A lot. For context, Patrick works on Paddle’s Retain team, selling its retention product. The goal was to reach out to prospects using messages that were personalised with AI. We needed to go through the following steps:
Find leads 🔎
Find out what billing system they were using 💰
Research them to find a hook 🔍
Write outreach emails & LinkedIn messages ✍️
Set-up sequence and send it 📤
To start off, Patrick was looking for senior employees with job titles that contain terms like “lifecycle”, “customer experience”, “growth”, etc…. He was able to find them super easily thanks to GodmodeHQ’s search capabilities, which allow you to search for keywords in job titles and filter for seniority.
Next, Patrick needed to find out if these companies were using Stripe, or another billing provider. This, again, is very easy to do by filtering through our “tech stack” data.
Not all the companies that Patrick loaded in his lists had their billing provider listed in the tech stack data. For the ones where their billing provider was not mentioned, Patrick needed to know if they have self-served subscription-based pricing. This is where GodmodeHQ’s AI research agents come into play. Patrick asked the AI to visit these companies’ pricing pages and determine if they had subscription-based pricing or not. And viola, just like that, our AI was able to qualify/disqualify those leads based on the output of its research. Now, combining the tech stack data and this AI research, Patrick had all the information he needed about prospects’ billing providers.
Next up, Patrick wanted to find nuggets of information that the AI could use to personalise Paddle’s outreach. That’s where our AI research agent enters the chat once again. We wrote the following prompt:
And here’s an example of what our AI research agents found:
Once the AI had information like this on all 200 leads in the list, it could use it as input, along with Patrick’s prompt, to write the outbound messages.
I’d love to show you those outbound messages (they were awesome) but we like to keep the messages that AI writes for our customers top secret 🤫
Finally, Patrick used GodmodeHQ’s campaign builder to create a sequence that included an AI outbound message, 2 templated follow-ups, a LinkedIn connection request and a LinkedIn message once the connection request was accepted.
